GAMA: Business Jets and Turboprops Lead Shipment Gains in First Half of 2026

What happened
The General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) released its second quarter 2026 aircraft shipment and billing report, showing overall shipments and billing values increased compared to the same period in 2025.
For the first six months of 2026, business jet shipments rose 8.2% to 383 units, turboprop shipments increased 7.8% to 289 units, and piston airplane shipments declined 3.1% to 786 units. Total airplane billings reached $14.3 billion through the second quarter, a 15.5% increase year-over-year.
In the helicopter segment, piston helicopter shipments grew 5.8% to 110 units, while turbine helicopter shipments increased 3.3% to 309 units. Billings for civil-commercial helicopters totaled $2.2 billion for the period.
GAMA is an international trade association representing more than 150 manufacturers of general aviation airplanes, rotorcraft, engines, avionics, components and related services.

The split between categories in this report is the notable pattern: business jets and turboprops both grew unit shipments while piston airplanes shrank, even as total airplane billings rose 15.5% year-over-year.
