Africa Business Aviation Trends: Top Countries, Aircraft Types and Operators

Business aviation activity across Africa remained highly concentrated in key regional markets during the first 24 days of June 2026. According to data sourced from the Avi-Go Database, the Africa region recorded 4,833 total departure flights between 1 June and 24 June 2026.
The data shows an average flight distance of 545.44 nautical miles and an average flight duration of 94.38 minutes, pointing to a market driven largely by short-to-medium regional missions rather than predominantly long-haul flying.
From 1–24 June 2026, Africa business aviation activity showed the following headline figures:
These figures suggest that African business aviation continues to serve a diverse mix of regional connectivity, corporate travel, premium private jet demand and operational access to secondary airports.
South Africa and Nigeria Lead Africa Business Aviation Departures
Africa’s business aviation activity is heavily concentrated in a small number of markets. South Africa recorded 1,392 departures, representing 28.8% of all Africa-region business aviation departures during the period. Nigeria followed with 947 departures, equal to 19.6% of total activity.
Together, South Africa and Nigeria accounted for 2,339 departures, or 48.4% of all recorded Africa business aviation departures.
Morocco, Egypt and Kenya also ranked among the most active departure markets, highlighting the importance of North, East, West and Southern Africa within the region’s business aviation network.
Turboprops Lead the Aircraft Type Mix
Turboprops were the most active aircraft category in Africa business aviation during the period, with 1,429 flights and a 29.6% share of total departures. This reflects the importance of aircraft capable of operating efficiently on shorter sectors and into airports with more varied infrastructure.
Heavy jets were the second-largest aircraft type category, with 1,089 flights and a 22.5% share, showing that premium large-cabin and longer-range demand remains significant across the region.
A notable finding is the strength of large-cabin and long-range aircraft. Heavy Jets, Ultra Long Range aircraft and VIP Airliners together accounted for 1,616 flights, representing 33.4% of total Africa business aviation activity.
Top Business Aviation Operators in Africa
The operator market was relatively fragmented, with the leading operators each accounting for modest shares of total activity. Anap Jets led the ranking with 145 flights, equal to 3.0% of departures. Vista Jet Ltd followed closely with 138 flights, while Execujet South Africa Pty Ltd recorded 121 flights.
The distribution indicates that while a handful of operators are highly active, Africa’s business aviation market includes a broad base of charter, corporate, regional and specialist operators.
Bombardier Leads Aircraft Brand Activity
By aircraft brand, Bombardier ranked first with 1,257 flights, representing 26.0% of all departures. Hawker Beechcraft followed with 890 flights, while Embraer recorded 875 flights.
Together, Bombardier, Hawker Beechcraft and Embraer represented 3,022 flights, or 62.5% of all Africa business aviation departures during the period.
The strong showing from Bombardier and Gulfstream highlights demand for larger cabin and longer-range business jets, while brands such as Pilatus and Cessna reflect the continued importance of flexible regional operations.
Conclusion
Africa’s business aviation market in June 2026 showed a clear pattern of concentrated activity, strong regional flying and meaningful demand for both turboprops and large-cabin aircraft.
With 4,833 departures recorded between 1 June and 24 June 2026, the region continues to demonstrate the importance of business aviation for connectivity, executive travel, charter operations and access across a geographically diverse continent.
