In business aviation, new models keep entering the market, but the numbers show that reliability still takes the lead. From January to August 2025, the Embraer Phenom 300 was the world’s most active business jet, recording 190,844 flights or 8.16% of all global movements. That means nearly one out of every twelve private jet flights this year was flown by a Phenom 300, an impressive sign of its efficiency, comfort, and operator trust.

Not far behind, the Challenger 300 Series (300/350/3500) logged 172,741 flights (7.38%). Together, these two aircraft families made up 15.54% of all global business jet activity, showing how popular the super-midsize category remains for operators seeking strong performance and range at lower operating costs.

Overall, the top 10 aircraft models contributed to 44.92% of global movements, meaning almost half of all flights came from just a handful of proven aircraft types. Still, the remaining 55% is spread across many different models, a reminder that business aviation is a diverse market with varying needs, regions, and fleet ages.

The Cessna Citation family continued to shine with three models in the top 10: the Excel/XLS/XLS+, Latitude, and CJ3. Together, they represented 16.08% of all global flights. The Excel/XLS line, though no longer in production, still ranks high thanks to its reliability and widespread support network. Meanwhile, the Citation Latitude’s growing flight numbers show how newer designs are gaining ground without replacing trusted classics too quickly.

In the heavy jet category, the Challenger 600 Series (600/601/604/605/650) achieved 88,959 flights, while the Falcon 2000 Series reached 61,001 flights, making Dassault the only European manufacturer in the global top 10. This reflects how long-running models continue to perform strongly through steady upgrades and loyal operator bases.

Older aircraft also remain key players. The Learjet 40/45, Hawker 800, and Hawker 400 (All discontinued models) still completed a combined 161,093 flights (6.89% of total activity). Their continued presence proves that well-maintained, reliable jets can stay competitive for years after production ends.

Fun fact: The average age of the top 10 most-flown aircraft in 2025 is over 15 years, showing that longevity and maintenance quality often matter more than having the newest model on the ramp.

In short, the data reveals a market driven by trust, performance, and proven reliability where newer aircraft may shine in innovation, but familiar workhorses still rule the skies.
