Debut of the G300 at CJI Asia: Gulfstream’s Latest Innovation

At this year’s CJI Asia gathering, Gulfstream Aerospace unveiled its latest innovation: the Gulfstream G300, a next-generation super-midsize jet designed to re-energize a category the manufacturer has long dominated. With a price tag of around $28.9 million, the G300 builds upon the success of the G280 while introducing fresh technology, cabin comfort, and safety features that align with Gulfstream’s forward-looking fleet strategy.

Design and Performance Upgrades

Replacing the G280, the G300 combines transatlantic range with short-field performance, offering:

• Range: 3,600nm at Mach 0.80 or 3,000nm at Mach 0.84
• Cruise Ceiling: 45,000ft
• Cabin Altitude: 4,800ft at 41,000ft—lowest in its class
• Capacity: Two-zone cabin seating up to 10 passengers

The aircraft features 10 of Gulfstream’s signature panoramic oval windows, flooding the cabin with natural light and giving passengers one of the longest cabins in its class. Passengers will also benefit from a 100% fresh air circulation system and a plasma ionization purification system, underscoring Gulfstream’s continued focus on wellness in the air.

Future Flight Deck

The most significant modification is the Harmony Flight Deck, which is equipped with Honeywell Epic 2 avionics.  With six touchscreens, phase-of-flight intelligence, synthetic vision, and a Predictive Landing Performance System, the G300 is expected to raise the bar for pilot safety and situational awareness.  These improvements represent a major advancement over the Collins Pro Line Fusion system of the G280, and avionics certification is one of the next major milestones.

Testing and Timeline

Gulfstream has already logged nearly 22,000 hours of lab testing at its Integration Test Facility, which includes “iron bird” simulations, and nearly 2,000 hours of ground testing on the first aircraft. Taxi tests are underway, with two more test aircraft in the pipeline. While official entry-into-service dates have not been disclosed, deliveries are widely expected to begin in the first half of 2027.

A Super-Midsize Statement

Mark Burns, president of Gulfstream, summed up the launch:

“We know how important the super-midsize cabin segment is to our customers. Building on the highly successful G280 program, the G300 will re-energize the category with heightened technology and safety enhancements, alongside the legendary comfort and styling of a Gulfstream.”

The G300 positions itself as not just a replacement for the G280, but as a clear statement that Gulfstream intends to remain a leader in every market segment from super-midsize missions to ultra-long-range travel.
