USA Operator Growth: U.S. Business-Jet Activity Climbs 27%

U.S. business aviation entered the second half of 2026 with strong momentum, as USA operator growth pushed monthly business-jet departures to their highest level of the year in July.
According to the Avi-Go Database, U.S.-based operators recorded 2,319,989 departing flights between January and July 2026. Monthly departures increased from 285,763 in January to 363,229 in July, representing a net gain of 77,466 flights and growth of 27.1% across the period.
The figures point to a clear expansion in operator activity, although the pace of growth varied considerably from month to month.

Across the seven-month period, U.S.-based operators averaged approximately 331,427 departures per month, with July emerging as the busiest month.
March Marks the Biggest Jump in USA Operator Growth
The most significant increase came in March, when departing flights climbed by 54,087 compared with February.
That represented an 18.8% month-over-month increase, taking monthly departures from 287,867 to 341,954.
The sharp rise established a considerably higher level of activity for the following months. Rather than falling back toward January and February volumes, U.S. operator departures remained above 340,000 every month from March onward.
April was essentially stable at 342,784 departures, followed by another increase to 351,170 in May.
This pattern suggests that March was not simply a one-month spike. Instead, it marked a step up in business-jet utilization that was largely sustained through the remainder of the period.
U.S. Business-Jet Activity Remains Resilient Through June
June was the only month between February and July to record a month-over-month decline.
Departing flights fell by 4,948, or 1.4%, from 351,170 in May to 346,222 in June.
However, the decline was relatively modest when viewed against the broader trajectory of U.S. business-jet operator growth.
June activity remained substantially higher than at the beginning of the year, and the market quickly returned to growth in July.
Departures increased by another 17,007 flights in July, equivalent to 4.9% month over month, bringing monthly activity to a period high of 363,229 departures.
July Becomes the Strongest Month for U.S. Operators
July's 363,229 departures represented approximately 27.1% more activity than January, making it the strongest month recorded during the January–July period.
The progression can broadly be divided into three phases:
- January–February: relatively stable activity at around 286,000–288,000 monthly departures.
- March–June: a significant step up, followed by sustained volumes of approximately 342,000–351,000 departures.
- July: renewed acceleration to a seven-month high of more than 363,000 departures.
For aircraft operators, charter companies, brokers and other business-aviation stakeholders, this higher operating baseline is particularly notable.
Sustained flight activity can influence aircraft utilization, charter availability, airport demand and the wider service ecosystem supporting business aviation.
Inbound U.S. Business-Aviation Traffic Shows Similar Growth
The upward trend was not limited to departures.
Inbound U.S. business-aviation movements followed an almost identical trajectory, rising from 286,145 arrivals in January to 363,242 in July.
That represents an increase of 77,097 arrivals, or 26.9%, over the seven-month period.
The close relationship between arrival and departure growth reinforces the broader picture of expanding U.S. business-aviation activity during the first seven months of 2026.
What Does USA Operator Growth Signal for the Business Aviation Market?
The January–July data shows a clear upward trend in activity among U.S.-based business-jet operators.
Despite a small contraction in June, monthly departures increased by more than 77,000 flights between January and July. More importantly, activity remained consistently elevated after the sharp March increase.
With nearly 2.32 million departures recorded in seven months, the United States continues to demonstrate the scale and depth of its business-aviation market.
The next question will be whether operators can maintain this higher level of activity through the remainder of 2026, particularly as seasonal travel patterns, aircraft availability and charter demand evolve.
