Business jet operators are facing higher connectivity costs after Starlink Aviation hardware pricing rose to approximately $200,000, up from approximately $145,000, according to aviation installation specialist Basenor. Some aviation service plans have also become substantially more expensive alongside the hardware price increase.
The higher costs come as Starlink-based connectivity continues expanding across business aircraft from Gulfstream, Bombardier, Dassault, Embraer and Textron through approved installations and supplemental type certificates. Demand for high-speed, low-latency inflight internet has grown rapidly in business aviation, with passengers increasingly expecting video conferencing, streaming and other bandwidth-intensive services to function aboard private aircraft similarly to on the ground, shifting onboard connectivity from a premium option toward a standard cabin expectation, particularly on large-cabin and ultra-long-range jets.
The increased hardware and subscription costs are expected to influence upgrade decisions for aircraft owners and fleet operators, especially where installations require additional aircraft downtime and certification work, and the pricing shift also intensifies competition in the business aviation connectivity market as operators weigh Starlink against other established and emerging satellite solutions.
