CoolFly Launches Urban Standing-Position Personal Aircraft at Hangzhou Global Product Launch

Why It MattersThe launch signals expanding activity in the personal eVTOL and ultralight-aircraft segment, with manufacturers building regulatory, insurance and dealer ecosystems alongside new aircraft platforms.

CoolFly, a developer of personal electric aircraft and eVTOL platforms, unveiled its Urban aircraft at a Global Product Launch event held on 13 August in Hangzhou, China. The company describes Urban as the world's first standing-position personal aircraft, fully electric, with an enclosed-propeller propulsion design and a dual-redundant flight control architecture featuring triple-redundant inertial measurement units, built to be compact, intuitive to operate, and purpose-built for individual flight.

The event also introduced CoolFly's Dream series of seated personal eVTOL aircraft and its self-developed NA80 flight control system. The Dream series comprises the Dream ST, designed around ultralight aircraft regulatory frameworks in China and the United States with a quick-fold configuration, and the Dream Pro, which adds greater payload capacity, longer flight endurance, millimetre-wave obstacle-detection radar, route planning, intelligent obstacle avoidance, a whole-aircraft parachute system, and impact-mitigation airbags. The NA80 flight control system uses a dual-redundant architecture with three inertial measurement units per flight control unit and is intended as a common control platform across CoolFly's aircraft lineup.

Attendees included representatives from aviation organisations, universities, insurance companies, and domestic and international dealers. CoolFly signed a cooperation agreement with the Zhejiang Institute of Security Technology covering professional talent development and training facilities, along with strategic insurance partnerships with PICC Property and Casualty and China Pacific Property Insurance, and multiple new domestic and international dealer agreements.
