China's Lingkong Tianxing Technology Develops Yunxing Hypersonic Passenger Jet, Prototype Reaches Mach 4

Why It MattersA commercially viable hypersonic aircraft would reshape long-haul travel economics and pressure conventional business and commercial aviation to compete on speed.

Beijing-based Lingkong Tianxing Technology is developing a hypersonic passenger aircraft called Yunxing, with a working prototype that has already achieved Mach 4, exceeding 3,000 miles per hour. The company's long-term speed target is Mach 16, at which a London-to-New York flight would take approximately 90 minutes, Beijing to New York under two hours, and Paris to Beijing roughly one hour, with a full circumnavigation of the globe theoretically possible in around seven hours.
