The U.S. Department of State has issued a security advisory for American citizens in the Middle East following U.S. strikes on Iranian targets, warning of a complex security environment and the potential for "unforeseen escalation." The advisory urged Americans in the region to exercise heightened vigilance and to monitor updates from airports and airlines regarding potential flight cancellations, airspace closures, and other travel disruptions.
The department stated that "Iran and groups supportive of Iran may target U.S. interests overseas or at locations associated with the United States and Americans throughout the world, including U.S. businesses and other institutions."
The U.S. strikes targeted air-defence installations, radar and communication systems, maritime assets, facilities, and mine-laying capabilities. President Donald Trump warned that if Iran retaliates, it "will be hit again at a much harder and higher level."
