Tradewind Aviation to Launch Daily Fort Lauderdale–Nassau Nonstop Flight from Dec. 10

Tradewind Aviation announced it will begin daily scheduled service between Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and Lynden Pindling International Airport in Nassau starting December 10. The new route forms part of a 30 percent increase in Tradewind's Bahamas flight schedule beginning in mid-December.

The Fort Lauderdale–Nassau flight will operate once daily, seven days a week, aboard Tradewind's eight-passenger Pilatus PC-12 turboprop aircraft, flown by two pilots, with an approximate flying time of 48 minutes. Tradewind is already accepting reservations, with its Bahamas schedule available through June 1 of next year. In Fort Lauderdale, the airline operates from the Sheltair private FBO terminal at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport; in Nassau, flights use a private aviation terminal at Lynden Pindling International Airport. Passengers are advised to arrive approximately one hour before departure, and complimentary snacks and refreshments, including wine and beer, are offered onboard.

The Nassau addition completes a daily Fort Lauderdale connection to all three of Tradewind's primary Bahamas destinations. The airline already operates daily service from Fort Lauderdale to Marsh Harbour in Abaco, with up to three flights per day, and to North Eleuthera, gateway to Harbour Island, with up to two daily flights. Tradewind also flies between Stuart, Florida, and Nassau, Thursday through Monday year-round, and from Stuart serves Marsh Harbour up to three times daily and North Eleuthera up to twice daily, also Thursday through Monday. Nassau and neighboring Paradise Island host resorts including Atlantis Paradise Island, Baha Mar, and The Ocean Club, A Four Seasons Resort; Tradewind and Atlantis have previously introduced a combined hotel-and-flight package pairing qualifying stays at the Paradise Island resort with Tradewind's scheduled service from Stuart.

A scheduled operator filling out a network with short-haul turboprop frequencies shows how regional carriers expand incrementally, adding one daily rotation on a proven short sector instead of deploying larger cabins against uncertain demand. The eight-passenger Pilatus PC-12 keeps unit economics workable on a 48-minute hop where a bigger aircraft would be hard to fill daily.

This segment relies on private FBO and private-terminal access at both ends to keep dispatch, turnaround and passenger processing fast enough to support once-daily frequency without added ground infrastructure. Bundling scheduled seats with resort partnerships, as Tradewind has done with Atlantis on its Stuart route, is one way small operators build loyal demand on thin routes rather than competing purely on price.

What happens to load factors on the new Fort Lauderdale–Nassau flight through the winter season, and whether Tradewind extends similar resort-package deals to the Nassau route, will indicate whether the 30 percent Bahamas schedule increase holds beyond the initial booking window that runs through next June.
