Malta International Airport to Close Runways 05/23 and 13/31 in Separate Windows on 30–31 October

Why It MattersStaggered single-runway closures at LMML limit the airport to one usable runway at a time, concentrating business jet arrivals and departures on the open runway during the work windows.

Multiple runway and taxiway restrictions are scheduled at Malta International Airport (LMML), Luqa, on Friday 30 October and Saturday 31 October. Runway 05/23 is scheduled to close from 1600 to 1800 local time (1500 to 1700 UTC) on Friday 30 October. Under NOTAM A2132/26, the runway is closed for take-off and landing and is also unavailable for aircraft emergencies during this period; aircraft movement between Taxiway P and the Runway 05 threshold is not permitted. NOTAM A2134/26 closes Taxiway L between Holding Point L3 and Holding Point L during the same 1600–1800 local time window.

Malta International Airport to Close Runways 05/23 and 13/31 in Separate Windows on 30–31 October

Runway 13/31 is scheduled to close from 2230 local time on Friday 30 October (2130 UTC) to 0530 local time on Saturday 31 October (0430 UTC). Under NOTAM A2152/26, it is closed for take-off and landing but may be used in declared aircraft emergencies, with a notification period of 45 minutes required.

Separately, NOTAM A2125/26 reduces the runway end safety area (RESA) of Runway 31 to 220 metres from 1812 local time (1712 UTC) on Tuesday 27 October until 0059 local time on Tuesday 3 November (2359 UTC on Monday 2 November). The restrictions are limited to specific time periods and do not amount to a complete airport shutdown: Runway 13/31 remains available during the closure of Runway 05/23, and vice versa.
