Avcon Industries Delivers First Modified King Air B200 for Mosquito Control Operations

Avcon Industries, Inc., a subsidiary of Butler National Corporation, announced from New Century, Kansas, the delivery of its first specially modified King Air B200 configured for large-area mosquito control operations. The modification adds a removable external under-fuselage pod, an electric pump, aerodynamic fairings, and dispersal booms to the airframe, integrating Avcon's engineering with existing fluid dispersal technology.
Marcus Abendroth, President of Avcon, said the project shows the company's ability to integrate specialized mission systems into proven aircraft platforms and that the solution is designed to be repeatable for other operators with similar needs, adding that Avcon plans to complete the same modification on additional aircraft. Wayne Luettich, Aircraft Maintenance Manager for the Lee County Mosquito Control District in Florida, said mosquito control has become a significant effort in Florida and that his organization looks forward to operating the Avcon-modified aircraft.
