Danish Citizen Among Three Killed in Cirrus SR22T Crash in Swiss Alps
Why It MattersFatal accidents involving single-engine piston aircraft on Alpine routes draw regulatory and investigative attention to private flying in mountain terrain, a segment separate from business jets.
A Danish citizen was among three people killed when a small plane crashed in the Swiss Alps on September 15, Denmark's Accident Investigation Board said in a report published on Wednesday. The other two victims were British citizens.

The Danish board does not know the age or gender of the Danish citizen, nor whether the person was a passenger or a pilot. It has not been informed of a possible cause of the crash. Swiss authorities are responsible for investigating, and the Danish board must be notified when their report is ready; the authorities have one year to prepare it.
The aircraft was a Cirrus SR22T. Swiss police said in September that the plane had taken off from Lugano and stopped at Sion Airport before crashing near the town of Leukerbad. When rescue workers arrived at the scene, all three people on board had died.
