Sky X Opens 10,000-Sq-Ft FBO Terminal Near Hammond, Louisiana, With 30,000-Sq-Ft Hangar

Sky X has opened a 10,000-square-foot FBO terminal at Hammond, Louisiana, completing the first phase of a development project nearly two years in the making. The terminal includes an upscale passenger lounge, private shower suites, an executive conference room, a movie theater, a recreation area, and a complimentary beverage bar.

Behind the terminal sits a 30,000-square-foot hangar capable of accommodating aircraft as large as the Bombardier Global 8000. Two additional hangars of the same size are planned for completion in fall 2026. The facility consolidates multiple aviation functions under one roof.

Building hangar space rated for the Global 8000 at a facility like Hammond reflects a broader push by regional FBOs to capture large-cabin traffic that once concentrated at a handful of major business-aviation airports. Passenger amenities such as private shower suites and a dedicated conference room signal that operators are competing on ground experience, not just ramp space and fuel price.

FBO economics depend on attracting based aircraft and transient traffic large enough to justify hangar investment, since big-cabin jets carry higher fuel uplift and handling fees than light aircraft.
