Matt Davis and Jon Cone have founded Cloudline, a general aviation maintenance technology company, drawing on years spent building FlightAware into a flight-tracking and aviation-data platform. Davis serves as Co-founder and CEO; Cone is Co-founder and CTO.

Davis began his career in line service and became General Manager of Wilson Air Center in Houston before holding leadership roles at TAC Air. At FlightAware, he helped build the commercial organization, expanded its data products across aviation, and guided the business through its acquisition by Collins Aerospace, eventually serving as FlightAware's President and General Manager. He holds a BS and MBA from the University of Texas at Austin and is a commercial, multi-engine, and instrument-rated pilot.
Cone started as a software engineer at FlightAware and rose to Vice President of Engineering, rebuilding core streaming infrastructure and developing the company's API and data products. After the Collins Aerospace acquisition, he led approximately 120 engineers across the United States, United Kingdom, and India. At Cloudline, he designed and developed the company's core platform and leads its software architecture, data systems, and product strategy. Cone is also a commercial, multi-engine, and instrument-rated pilot.

Founders moving from a data-and-tracking platform into maintenance technology reflects a broader pull of software talent toward general aviation's operational back office, where scheduling, parts, and compliance workflows have long lagged behind the flight-data side of the industry. FlightAware itself grew by aggregating tracking data at scale and selling it into airlines, operators, and other aviation businesses; Davis and Cone are now pointing that same systems-and-data discipline at maintenance, a segment where fragmented shops, manual recordkeeping, and thin software investment have historically persisted.
General aviation MRO economics tend to reward whoever can standardize data across many small, independently run shops and aircraft owners, since no single operator has the scale FlightAware had with airline and ATC feeds. Whether Cloudline's platform choices echo that aggregation model, or take a different path suited to maintenance's slower, more physical workflows, is not yet established.
The next signal to watch is what Cloudline actually ships and which maintenance shops or operators adopt it first, since a founding team's pedigree does not by itself confirm product-market fit in a segment with different customers and buying cycles than flight tracking.
