EHang Expands Global Fast Track Program to Vietnam with EH216-S Sandbox Testing Agreement
Why It MattersThe Vietnam agreement signals eVTOL manufacturers are prioritising Asia-Pacific regulatory sandboxes as a pathway to commercial pilotless passenger and cargo operations.
EHang has expanded its Global Fast Track Program to Vietnam, making it the second country to join after Sri Lanka. A memorandum of understanding was signed between local partner HungViet and Hanoi's Department of Science and Technology to conduct low-altitude economy sandbox testing centred on EHang's EH216-S pilotless passenger aircraft.

Hanoi DOST will guide the sandbox application and approval process, while HungViet supplies technical, financial and personnel resources, and EHang provides the aircraft, operational technology and training support. Testing is planned at Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park, pending approval procedures, beginning with controlled EH216-S test flights and expected to explore an unmanned aircraft traffic management model and an operations control centre model, alongside collaboration on training, technical standards and regulatory exchanges.
The goal is to gather operational and regulatory data supporting future pilotless eVTOL operations in Vietnam, with phased technical verification planned for both human-carrying and cargo-carrying variants of the EH216 series. Following the Hanoi programme, EHang plans to explore operations in Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang, targeting urban mobility and tourism-related applications, and has held discussions with aviation authorities across several Asia-Pacific countries regarding regulatory sandboxes and participation in the Global Fast Track Program.
