Archer Aviation Builds AI Platform and Eyes Boeing Subsidiaries to Broaden Aviation Role

Archer Aviation is expanding beyond aircraft development by building artificial intelligence capabilities for aviation. In July 2026 the company introduced ZEE, an AI foundation model designed for aviation that combines aircraft operations data, air traffic communications, maps, terrain and weather to support applications across air taxis, unmanned aircraft, commercial aviation and air traffic management. Archer's proprietary data pipeline and network of ADS-B receivers feed the model, which the company is exploring for airline operations, airspace management and pilot assistance.

In August 2026 Archer announced agreements to acquire Boeing's Wisk Aero, Insitu and SkyGrid subsidiaries, adding capabilities in autonomous flight, unmanned aircraft and airspace intelligence to complement its existing aircraft and AI technologies. Archer said the combination could strengthen its technology base across autonomous aviation and airspace management, broadening its role beyond a sole focus on air taxis.
Other companies are also advancing aviation AI: Joby Aviation is developing autonomous flight capabilities alongside its electric aircraft program, and Boeing is developing autonomous aircraft and digital aviation technologies for commercial and defense applications. The Zacks Consensus Estimate points to a 52.38% year-over-year decline in Archer's 2026 earnings per share and 15.63% growth in 2027.
