The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) has announced temporary airspace closures within the Kuala Lumpur Terminal Control Area to facilitate the National Day Flypast 2026, marking Malaysia's 69th National Day celebrations. Malaysia Airlines said the closures will result in the retiming of selected flights arriving at and departing from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1, with affected passengers to be notified via their registered contact details and encouraged to check flight status online before travelling to the airport.
With school holidays and a peak travel period running from August 26 to September 6, passengers departing from KLIA Terminal 1 are advised to arrive at least four hours before their scheduled departure to allow sufficient time for airport procedures. Malaysia's National Day is celebrated annually on August 31, commemorating the Federation of Malaya's independence from British rule in 1957.
