Honeywell has introduced JetWave X, a next-generation satellite communications platform for business aviation that operates across multiple Ka-band satellite constellations using intelligent network management to automatically select the strongest available connection during flight.

The system offers download speeds of up to 200 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 20 Mbps, and is designed to support high-definition video conferencing, cloud-based applications, media streaming, real-time collaboration, and voice and messaging services. Honeywell states the multi-network architecture reduces interruptions when crossing satellite coverage regions and is designed to remain compatible with future satellite constellations.

For operators already equipped with Honeywell JetWave, the upgrade to JetWave X requires replacement of only three line replaceable units (LRUs) and installation of the new antenna into the existing tail-mount location, with minimal structural and wiring changes.

Honeywell is pursuing JetWave X certification across a broad range of business aircraft, with multiple platforms targeted for certification throughout 2026. Target aircraft include Bombardier Challenger 300, 350, 3500, 601, 604, and 650, Global 5000, 5500, 6000, 6500, and 7500; Dassault Falcon 900, 2000, 6X, 7X, 8X, and 10X; Embraer Praetor 500 and 600; and Gulfstream G500, G550, G600, G650, G700, and G800. West Star Aviation, an avionics integration specialist, is offering consultation, installation, and certification support for JetWave X installations.

A platform upgrade that reuses an existing antenna location and swaps only three LRUs belongs to a broader trend in cabin connectivity: vendors compete less on raw bandwidth alone and more on how cheaply an operator can move to it without a full teardown.
