AirTaxi Express Fails Twice in Helgoland Launch: Social Media Attack on Flying Club Backfires, Regulatory Bar on Helgoland Flights Revealed
Why It MattersThe dispute highlights how access to small, club-run special airfields can constrain new regional air-taxi routes even when framed around essential supply and medical flights.
German operator AirTaxi Express ran into a double setback as it tried to set up air connections to the North Sea island of Helgoland. The company first launched a Facebook campaign targeting Sportfluggruppe (SFG) Nordholz, a non-profit aviation sports club, after the club turned down its Prior Permission Required (PPR) requests to use the Nordholz-Spieka special airfield.

The post accused the club of blocking vital supply and medical flights between Helgoland and Cuxhaven in favour of recreational flying by a small group, and claimed local residents reacted with incomprehension to the club's refusal.
