Tanis Receives STC and PMA Approval for Engine Preheat System Covering Full Daher TBM Family
Why It MattersThe approval extends cold-weather support infrastructure across three decades of Pratt & Whitney-powered TBM turboprops, potentially easing dispatch reliability for operators in colder regions.
Tanis has obtained a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) and Parts Manufacturer Approval (PMA) for a comprehensive engine preheat system covering the entire Daher TBM aircraft family, from the original TBM 700 through to the latest TBM 980, encompassing all serial numbers and production years and representing more than three decades of TBM aircraft in service worldwide.

The system is designed for Pratt & Whitney-powered turbine aircraft, using a multipoint, self-regulating configuration to preheat the engine, propeller reduction gearbox, oil cooler, fuel control unit, accessory gearbox and battery, among other components, while also extending to avionics and cabin preheating with LED power indication and circuit overload protection.
JJ Frigge, president of Hartzell Propeller, said the system gives TBM owners and operators a comprehensive preheat solution supporting easier cold-weather starts and reliability of critical aircraft systems, while also allowing the aircraft to be warm and ready before passengers board.
The system will be available in both North American (115V) and European (230V) voltage configurations, ordered through the Hartzell Preheat website or authorized resellers and distributors, and carries a five-year warranty.
