Conduit Holdings Names Former Aspen Executive Dunleavy as CEO; Founder Eckert to Step Down in March 2027
Why It MattersThe succession signals continued leadership stability at a Bermuda-based reinsurer as it plans for its next stage of development under new management.
Bermuda-based Conduit Holdings, the ultimate parent company of Conduit Re, announced on September 8 that Neil Eckert will step down as CEO and executive director on March 1, 2027. Christian Dunleavy, a former executive at Aspen Insurance Holdings, will succeed him as CEO and join the board as executive director on the same date.

Eckert co-founded Conduit in 2020 and served as executive chair before being appointed CEO in May 2025, following the retirement of Trevor Carvey.
Dunleavy brings more than 25 years of reinsurance industry experience to the role. Most recently, he served as director and group president of Aspen Insurance Holdings and CEO of Aspen Bermuda Limited. He joined Aspen in 2015 as global head of property catastrophe reinsurance and went on to hold several senior leadership positions, including group chief underwriting officer. Prior to Aspen, he held senior reinsurance underwriting roles at AXIS Capital, having begun his career at RenaissanceRe.
Dunleavy currently serves as chair of the Association of Bermuda International Companies and as an independent non-executive director of Coralisle Group and HSBC Bank Bermuda Ltd.
Nicholas Shott, chair of Conduit Holdings, said leadership succession has been a key priority for the board and that Dunleavy is a highly experienced reinsurance executive with a proven track record of underwriting excellence, leadership and strategic execution. Shott added that the board is confident Dunleavy is the right person to lead Conduit through its next stage of development.
