EBAA to hold first EBAA Week on Nov. 16-18, months after canceling EBACE

Why It MattersFolding existing standalone meetings into one week gives European business aviation a single venue for operations, safety and regulatory dialogue while the flagship EBACE show is absent from the calendar.

The European Business Aviation Association (EBAA) is organizing its first EBAA Week for Nov. 16-18, bringing together the sector's community, from flight dispatchers to airframers. The event comes seven months after EBAA canceled the European Business Aviation Conference & Exhibition (EBACE), which had been planned for June. EBAA Week is not intended to replace EBACE.

The week has four components. Eurocontrol will host the Business Aviation Flight Dispatcher Day. The other three will take place in Brussels Airport's Skyhall: Air Ops, for airports, ground handlers, trip planners, operators and others; a Business Aviation Safety & Innovation conference; and a European Business Aviation Summit (EBAS) for policy and regulatory discussion. EBAA was already organizing these events separately. Roman Kok, EBAA's head of public and industry affairs, says combining them will let participants build more connections, and each participant can pick the parts they want.

Announced exhibitors so far include Bombardier and Jet Aviation. The exhibit floor has capacity for 50 to 60 stands and the conference for 400 seats. At EBAS, Kok expects the European Union's Emissions Trading System to be a prominent theme, along with a new metric for business aviation's carbon footprint and the aviation strategy the European Commission plans to publish by year-end. At Air Ops, controlling operators against illegal flights may be a hot topic.
