Tecnam Names Finnoff Aviation as New US Partner for P2012 Aircraft

Why It MattersThe deal shows how piston and light-aircraft OEMs lean on regional dealer networks with existing service infrastructure to extend reach into niche mission markets without building their own US footprint.

What happened

Tecnam has entered into a strategic agreement with Finnoff Aviation to expand the presence of the Tecnam P2012 aircraft series in the western United States. Under the arrangement, Finnoff will market the P2012 to customers across the region and support the fleet through its Performance Center network.

Jon Boknecht, Vice President of Finnoff, described the P2012 as "a versatile, mission-ready aircraft that fills an important role for operators across a wide range of missions." Giovanni Pascale Langer, Managing Director of Tecnam, said the expansion required "partners who share our dedication to quality, reliability, and customer success."

The P2012 is described as the only modern, in-production, nine-seat, twin-engine piston aircraft in its class. It is equipped with the Garmin G1000 NXi flight deck and is available in both standard and STOL configurations, supporting transport, cargo, VIP, medevac, skydive, and special mission operations. More than 100 P2012 aircraft have been delivered worldwide to date, and Tecnam has been producing aircraft for more than 75 years.

Industry impact & what to watch

Partnership announcements like this one follow a common route for light-aircraft manufacturers entering a new region: pair the airframe with a local dealer that already carries service infrastructure, rather than standing up a direct sales and support operation. Finnoff's Performance Center network gives Tecnam maintenance and marketing reach in the western US without a new facility investment on Tecnam's part.

The nine-seat twin-piston segment is narrow, and the P2012's spread across transport, cargo, VIP, medevac, skydive and special-mission roles means its buyers are often operators with specific mission requirements rather than generalist fleets. How quickly Finnoff converts regional interest into orders, and whether the Performance Center network can sustain support as the US fleet grows beyond the current worldwide delivery count, will indicate whether the partnership model is working as intended.
