Engine Inlet Anti-Ice and De-Ice Systems Market Forecast to Nearly Double to $988.5 Million by 2036, Driven by Certification Demand and Fleet Growth

Why It MattersTightening icing-certification rules and fleet-level airworthiness directives are pushing aircraft manufacturers and suppliers toward integrated, electro-thermal inlet protection systems for new and retrofit programs.

The global engine inlet anti-ice and de-ice systems market was valued at $479.4 million in 2025 and is projected to reach $512.0 million in 2026, according to Future Market Insights (FMI). Demand is forecast to reach $988.5 million by 2036, a compound annual growth rate of 6.8% over the 2026–2036 period, representing an incremental opportunity of $476.5 million.

Integrated systems are expected to account for 55.0% of integration-level demand in 2026, while turbofan engines are projected to represent 54.0% of engine-type demand the same year. Part 25 aircraft are forecast to hold a 52.0% share by certification category, and bleed-air systems are expected to lead by protection method with a 47.0% share.

Certification requirements under 14 CFR §33.68 and eCFR provisions require manufacturers to demonstrate safe operation under defined icing conditions, elevating the importance of thermal testing and validated system designs. FAA airworthiness directives issued in May 2024 for Boeing 787 aircraft and in June 2024 for Boeing 737-8 and 737-9 aircraft generated requirements for approved repairs, electrical changes, seal replacement, and associated testing, illustrating how fleet-level technical actions create aftermarket opportunities.

Electro-thermal systems are gaining attention alongside established bleed-air systems as newer aircraft architectures increase reliance on electrical control. China is projected to be the fastest-growing national market, expanding at an 8.8% CAGR through 2036, while India is expected to record an 8.5% CAGR over the same period. Nikhil Kaitwade, Principal Consultant at Future Market Insights, said suppliers with certified thermal control and nacelle integration proof are expected to be preferred across new aircraft and retrofit programs.
