Textron Aviation executive outlines OEM lifecycle support strategy, from regional core returns to expanded used serviceable material

Why It MattersOEMs are competing on aftermarket proximity and lifecycle support breadth, pushing parts inventory and returns processing closer to operators as utilization and cost pressure raise the value of aircraft availability.

Chad Harris, Vice President of Global Sales & Business Development at Textron Aviation, said in a Q&A that aircraft availability remains a top priority for operators facing tighter schedules, higher utilization demands and cost pressure. He said support is no longer only about finding a part when something breaks, but about having the right strategy, resources and expertise in place well before a maintenance need arises.

Harris said the most successful operators take a long-term view, planning ahead, understanding parts requirements and establishing efficient purchasing processes. Textron Aviation Parts & Distribution (TAPD) aims to help customers build that foundation. He said the OEM's differentiator is its ability to support an aircraft throughout its entire lifecycle: for newer fleets this may mean access to inventory, programs and technical expertise, while for mature fleets it may mean extending aircraft life through alternative material solutions or used serviceable material (USM).

On global reach, Harris said Textron Aviation supports customers worldwide with thousands of available SKUs through a network of distribution centers, stockrooms and support teams. The company is positioning inventory closer to customers; in Australia and Europe, operators can now return eligible cores locally rather than shipping them internationally, reducing cost, complexity and turnaround time. Further investments include dedicated aircraft-on-ground (AOG) expediting resources, regional customer support teams and digital tools for parts procurement and maintenance planning.
