Private Jet Access in 2026 Spans Marketplaces, Charter, Fly-Sharing and Fractional Ownership

Why It MattersAccess to private flying is stratifying into distinct commercial layers, from single-seat purchases to multi-year hour commitments, widening the customer base beyond traditional charter and ownership buyers.

Private aviation has diversified into a spectrum of access models priced for different travel frequencies and budgets. Marketplace platforms act as aggregators connecting travellers with charter operators and show real-time pricing and aircraft details. FlyHouse, which absorbed JetASAP and Sun Air Jets, offers access to over 2,300 aircraft across the United States, with charter costs typically ranging from US$3,000 to US$12,000 per flight hour. FlyJets claims pricing up to 50 per cent below standard charter rates through shared charters, group purchases and bidding. Jettly maintains a network of more than 23,000 aircraft globally, and Victor is a London-based marketplace founded in 2010.

In traditional charter, Wheels Up, established in 2013, provides access to over 1,500 aircraft and in 2021 opened individual flight booking to non-members via its app. In 2025 it introduced a US$200,000 Signature Membership tier guaranteeing nationwide availability on its Phenom 300 and Challenger 300 fleets, along with Delta SkyMiles Diamond Medallion status. Air Charter Service offers access to 50,000 aircraft across 130 types and estimates that a 40-minute flight in a small aircraft costs about US$2,800, while a 90-minute midsize-jet flight approaches US$34,500.

Fly-share companies sell individual seats. Aero, founded in 2019 by Uber co-founder Garrett Camp, operates 16-seat jets, with tickets of roughly US$1,000 to US$3,000 per leg and pets permitted. In summer 2026 it launched a seasonal Gulfstream IV-SP route from Van Nuys to New York City, with a helicopter transfer to East Hampton via Blade; weekend seats were priced at US$7,570. Blade's BladeOne service runs seasonal New York City–Miami and Palm Beach routes from November 2026 through May 2027, with South Florida packages starting at US$2,300 per seat.

Fractional ownership requires the deepest commitment. FlexJet operates more than 300 aircraft in the United States and Europe, sells flight time in 50-hour annual increments, and charges from US$7,000 per hour for light jets to US$23,000 per hour for ultra-long-range models such as the Gulfstream G700. It runs nine private terminals, and domestic flights can be booked with as little as ten hours' notice, international trips with 48 hours. NetJets, owned by Berkshire Hathaway, is widely regarded as the originator of the fractional ownership model.
