Brickell Residence Guide Advises Testing Full Door-to-Door Journeys to MIA, Opa-locka, Schools, Offices and Marinas
Why It MattersJourney-time testing treats access to business-aviation airfields like Opa-locka as a measurable feature of luxury residential value, linking Miami's branded-residence market to private-aviation convenience.
A MILLION branded-residences guide sets out a framework for evaluating a Brickell home by timing complete journeys, from the apartment door to the aircraft, classroom, office or vessel, rather than relying on neighborhood-level driving estimates.

Miami International Airport (MIA) is approximately eight miles from Brickell and downtown Miami. MIA has a general-aviation facility separate from its airline terminals, with customs capability and accommodation for large aircraft. Miami-Opa-locka Executive Airport (OPF) is approximately 11 miles north of central Miami; its 8,002-foot runway accommodates aircraft up to ultra-long-range jets, and it has multiple fixed-base operators (FBOs), direct ramp access for charter travelers, customs clearance, 24-hour operation and no scheduled airline traffic.
The recommended method is to start the clock when the household is ready to leave the apartment, recording elevator waiting and travel, vehicle retrieval, passenger loading and luggage handling separately from road time, and to keep timing on return until everyone is back inside. School tests should use the exact campus and its drop-off and collection points, with morning and afternoon trips tested separately. Office tests should end at the office door, not the surrounding block, and marina tests should end aboard the vessel.
The guide suggests keeping a seven-day record of outbound and return journeys, noting dates, intended and actual departure times, endpoints, stops and completion times, and separating building access, road travel and destination access. It describes this as a starting point rather than a guarantee of future conditions, and says untested building operations, such as elevator or vehicle-retrieval performance for a residence not yet built, should be kept provisional.
