John Travolta's Boeing 707-138B Undergoes Reassembly at HARS Museum in Australia

Why It MattersThe project underscores growing reliance on specialist recovery and restoration crews to preserve rare vintage airframes for permanent museum display.

A Boeing 707-138B once privately operated by actor John Travolta is being reassembled at the Historical Aircraft Restoration Society (HARS) museum at Albion Park, New South Wales, about 90 miles south of Sydney. The aircraft, registered N707JT and formerly used by Travolta during his time as a Qantas ambassador, was donated to HARS in 2017.

Worldwide Aircraft Recovery dismantled the jet at the Port of Brunswick, Georgia, in March 2026 before it was shipped to Australia, arriving at HARS on May 20. In the first week of October, a five-person crew from the Omaha, Nebraska-based company, led by Jay Penry, began a six-week reassembly effort alongside HARS volunteers including veteran pilot Don Hindle, with wing reattachment scheduled for the second week of October.

Once reassembly is complete, the aircraft will go on permanent display at HARS as one of the last surviving examples of the Boeing 707-138B variant. HARS has announced plans to launch a fundraising campaign to support the aircraft's transportation, restoration, and long-term preservation.
