XEJet Express Launches Inaugural Abuja–Gusau Direct Service with Embraer ERJ-145MP
Why It MattersThe launch signals continued expansion of regional point-to-point air links in Nigeria, potentially drawing travellers away from road routes between Abuja and Zamfara State.
Nigerian carrier XEJet Express launched its inaugural direct flight between Abuja and Gusau on Monday, 5 October 2026, with the aircraft departing Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at 2:00 pm and arriving safely at Gusau International Airport.

The new service will operate twice weekly using an Embraer ERJ-145MP aircraft, offering passengers a direct air alternative to road travel between Abuja and Zamfara State.
XEJet Express General Manager Hamzat Bukar said the route was designed to improve accessibility to Zamfara while supporting tourism, trade and cultural exchanges, with particular benefits expected for business travellers, government officials and families. He added that the Gusau route forms part of the airline's broader expansion plans across Africa, with further route developments expected in the coming months.
Gusau International Airport Managing Director Kabir Yahaya Gusau described the inaugural arrival as a significant milestone for the airport, noting it was the first time the airport had welcomed revenue passengers. Government officials, airport management and other dignitaries were present to receive the flight.
