Front fuselage section of former German government Airbus A340 "Konrad Adenauer" to go on display at Bundeswehr museum in Berlin-Gatow
Why It MattersRetired government VIP widebodies are finding a second life as museum exhibits through MRO-owner loans, a route that keeps airframe remnants out of the scrapyard and in public view.
A major part of the former German government Airbus A340-300 "Konrad Adenauer" (registration 16+01) is to be exhibited at the Bundeswehr Museum of Military History at Berlin-Gatow airfield. Lufthansa Technik is lending the museum the upper front fuselage section, including the cockpit and the original government cabin.

The section is about 30 meters long, six meters wide and weighs 25 tonnes. It contains two conference rooms and the private office for government members. The Luftwaffe took over the aircraft in 2011 and retired it at the end of 2023, after which Lufthansa Technik bought it.
