Menzies Aviation adds AI capabilities to MORSE safety management system
Why It MattersEmbedding AI in the safety-reporting workflow of a global ground handler signals how handlers may standardise incident documentation at scale while keeping humans responsible for safety-critical decisions.
Menzies Aviation has introduced new artificial intelligence capabilities within its MORSE Safety Management System, aimed at improving the quality, accuracy and consistency of safety reporting and investigations. The built-in AI Assist helps employees complete reports and investigations, supporting more accurate and concise reporting. An AI-powered quality review also checks incident reports for completeness and accuracy and suggests improvements where needed, while human oversight remains central to safety-critical decisions.

MORSE, short for Menzies Operating Responsibly, Safely and Effectively, is the company's digital safety management system, bringing incident and hazard reporting, investigations and safety data together in one platform. It is used across operations at 347 airports in 65 countries and gives teams real-time visibility of safety and security risk. In 2025, Menzies teams identified 46,950 hazards globally, a 29% increase on the previous year. So far this year, more than 6,800 potential disruptions have been prevented through hazard reporting, including the identification of an aircraft tyre defect in Romania before it could affect operations.
Menzies plans to explore how the AI capability could help identify patterns and contributing factors behind incidents, enabling earlier visibility of emerging risks and preventative action. Yogesh Parekh, Chief Safety & Training Officer at Menzies Aviation, said AI is helping teams produce clearer, more consistent reporting and investigations, and that technology will never replace the expertise and judgement of its people. The capability is being highlighted as part of MORSE Week, the company's twice-yearly programme focused on learning, collaboration and activities that reinforce its safety culture.
