SkyDrive Signs MOU with Six Singapore Companies for eVTOL Component R&D and Technical Validation

Why It MattersThe deal shows eVTOL developers building supplier and validation ecosystems in Southeast Asia, where Singapore's manufacturing, battery and operations expertise can shorten the path from components to certified service.

TimesTech

SkyDrive, a Japan-based developer of compact eVTOL aircraft, has signed a memorandum of understanding for joint research, development and technical validation of key eVTOL component technologies with six Singapore-based technology companies: Accuron Technologies, Heron Airbridge, HOPE Technik, KVI, Neo Aeronautics and Volt14 Solutions. The MOU was signed at the Singapore Week of Innovation & Technology (SWITCH). The six companies have capabilities in advanced manufacturing, advanced batteries, rapid prototyping and flight operations management.

SkyDrive Signs MOU with Six Singapore Companies for eVTOL Component R&D and Technical Validation

The MOU is intended to evaluate and advance joint R&D on component technologies such as aircraft weight reduction, next-generation batteries and flight operations management, as well as potential validation environments. SkyDrive describes Singapore as an Asian hub for technological innovation with capabilities in aerospace, advanced materials and electronics, and as a base within Southeast Asia, which it calls a key strategic market where the eVTOL market is expanding rapidly.

Accuron Technologies is to work on advanced metallic additive manufacturing, drawing on aerospace experience, to produce complex lightweight metal components that meet high safety standards. Heron Airbridge will carry out technical validation of real-time airspace monitoring and traffic management for eVTOL air traffic and flight operations. HOPE Technik will handle rapid prototyping, manufacturing, testing and validation of experimental components and aircraft, building on its robotics and autonomous-systems experience. KVI will evaluate and validate control software that manages safe, rapid charging at the battery cell and pack level rather than through the charger, to support continuous operations and efficient turnaround.

Neo Aeronautics will focus on operational testing, validation, regulatory certification of eVTOLs and regional business development, including an AAM operational framework and flight-test infrastructure. Volt14 Solutions will develop high-capacity battery cells using advanced silicon-based materials and evaluate lightweight, safe battery pack architectures for eVTOL aircraft. Under the MOU, SkyDrive and the six companies will hold regular technical exchanges and share information, working toward definitive agreements for specific joint R&D initiatives and feasibility studies.
