Elysium Jet Reports First-Time Charter Demand Out of Dubai as Gulf Airline Schedules Are Disrupted

Why It MattersProlonged scheduled-airline disruption in a region can push premium-cabin passengers into charter for the first time, widening the buyer pool for brokers who hold heavy-jet access.

What happened

Elysium Jet, a private aviation company with offices in Dubai and New York, says travelers who previously flew business or first class on scheduled airlines have been booking private jet charters from the Gulf after their airline flights were cancelled. Airline schedules across the Middle East have been repeatedly disrupted since February 2026, and on October 7 alone FlightAware data recorded 1,692 delays and 131 cancellations across the region.

Elysium Jet Reports First-Time Charter Demand Out of Dubai as Gulf Airline Schedules Are Disrupted

In March 2026, as regional airlines suspended flights, the Dubai team arranged departures from Dubai World Central (Al Maktoum, OMDW) and Muscat International (OOMS) in Oman, both international airports open to commercial charter flights (Part 135 / CAT). Routes flown included Muscat to Istanbul and Dubai to Athens, Zurich and Amsterdam. Most missions used heavy jets such as the Challenger 605 or the Gulfstream G-IV SP, which can reach Europe nonstop and carry families and luggage.

Elysium Jet COO and co-founder Enzo Viardot, a former Falcon 900 pilot, said many of this year's clients had always flown business or first class and found their flight no longer available. Pets travel in the cabin with their owners, with health certificates and import documents checked before departure.

The company estimates that a heavy jet from the Gulf to Western Europe, about seven flight hours, typically costs between $70,000 and $110,000, or roughly $6,000 to $9,000 per person with a full cabin of up to 12 passengers. Every flight is quoted individually. Elysium Jet describes itself as a private aviation company based in New York and Dubai offering charter and aircraft management; its entities act as brokers, and all flights are operated by certified operators.

Industry impact & what to watch

Charter demand that comes from cancelled scheduled flights is a different buyer from the repeat private-jet user. These passengers already pay for premium cabins, so the comparison they make is against a business or first class fare, not against another charter quote. That is why the per-seat framing matters in this case: spread across a full cabin of up to 12, a heavy-jet crossing is priced per person at a level that sits closer to a premium ticket than a whole-aircraft figure suggests.

For brokers and operators, the segment economics hinge on aircraft that can cover the sector nonstop and on airports that accept commercial charter operations. A seven-hour Gulf-to-Western-Europe leg narrows the usable fleet to heavy jets, and the Dubai World Central and Muscat departures show how traffic can shift between airports when one gateway is constrained. Part 135 / CAT access and operator certification become the gating items, since the broker structure described here leaves the flying to certified operators.

Whether first-time buyers become repeat customers depends on how long scheduled service stays unreliable and on how they experience the process once airline options return. The signal worth tracking is whether the October disruption levels persist, because that determines if this remains a stopgap purchase or becomes a lasting entry point into charter.
