Vantage Aviation and NetJets to Open Exclusive-Use Terminal at Rifle Garfield County Airport by Early 2027
Why It MattersFractional providers are moving from shared FBO lounges toward dedicated terminals in high-demand mountain and metro markets, turning ground handling into a branded part of the ownership product.
What happened
Vantage Aviation is partnering with NetJets on a new exclusive-use terminal at Rifle Garfield County Airport (RIL) in Colorado. The facility is expected to open by early 2027, ahead of the planned closure of the Aspen airport.

The complex includes a 6,000 sq ft (557 sq m) private terminal and an aircraft hangar designed to protect NetJets aircraft from winter conditions. The terminal will feature a lounge with mountain views and natural materials reflecting the surrounding landscape.
Ryan Maxfield, CEO of Vantage Aviation, said the investment is highly complementary to Vantage Aviation's new FBO and hangar campus, which is scheduled to open in mid-December, and further reinforces Rifle as a premier gateway to Colorado's mountain destinations. Patrick Gallagher, president of NetJets Aviation, said the facility, developed alongside Vantage Aviation, supports seamless travel with the privacy and personalized attention NetJets owners value.
The partnership follows NetJets' earlier announcement of exclusive-use terminal projects at Dallas Love Field, Washington Dulles and West Palm Beach.
Industry impact & what to watch
A fractional operator placing its own terminal at an airport, rather than relying on a shared FBO lounge, shifts part of the customer experience from the FBO's control to the operator's. With Rifle joining Dallas Love Field, Washington Dulles and West Palm Beach on the list of announced projects, the model is spreading from large metro airports to a mountain-resort gateway.
For an FBO such as Vantage Aviation, the arrangement trades a share of walk-in ramp traffic for a long-term anchor tenant. The economics depend on the terms of the NetJets agreement, which have not been announced, and on how much of the new campus remains open to other operators.
The dated milestones are the mid-December opening of the Vantage Aviation FBO and hangar campus and the early 2027 opening of the NetJets terminal, which is timed against the planned closure of the Aspen airport.
