StandardAero Renews Multi-Year Exclusive PW127M Engine Maintenance Deal With TAROM
Why It MattersOperators of regional turboprop fleets are continuing to lock engine upkeep into long exclusive contracts with independent overhaul specialists rather than relying on the original manufacturer's network.
StandardAero has signed a multi-year exclusive engine maintenance agreement with Romanian flag carrier TAROM, extending support for the airline's ATR 72-500 and ATR 72-600 turboprop fleet. Under the agreement, StandardAero will provide MRO services for the aircraft's Pratt & Whitney Canada PW127M engines from its facilities in Summerside, Canada, and Gonesse, France.

StandardAero is the world's largest independent Pratt & Whitney Canada-authorised PW100 Designated Overhaul Facility. It has supported operators of the engine family for more than 40 years and became the first independent MRO provider for the PW100 in 1984. Its PW100 offering also includes component repairs, rental engines, on-site field services and engine condition trend monitoring.
Cristian Anghel, TAROM's general manager, said the agreement would ensure continued technical support for the airline's ATR fleet, which provides connections between Romanian and European cities, the Middle East and other international destinations via Bucharest Otopeni. Tayeb Bouhassis, StandardAero's sales director for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, said the renewed agreement reflected TAROM's confidence in the company's PW127M support services. TAROM, founded in 1954, operates under Romania's Ministry of Transport and has been a member of the SkyTeam alliance since 2010.
