Why It MattersThe sponsorship reflects broader efforts by Part 135 operators to build pilot pipelines amid ongoing industry recruitment and retention pressures.
NICHOLAS AIR has announced its sponsorship of Auburn Business Aviation Days, a multi-day event hosted by Auburn University's School of Aviation that connects aspiring collegiate aviators and maintenance technicians with industry leaders exploring career pathways in business aviation. At the event, NICHOLAS AIR will feature pilots and a static display to engage students and young professionals. The company's STEEL JET Pathway Program offers low-time pilots a route from the Cessna Caravan to jet pilot status within two to four years.

NICHOLAS AIR describes itself as the largest independently owned Part 135 operator, with a fleet including the Phenom 100 and 300E, Citation CJ3+, Citation Latitude, Bombardier Challenger 350, and Gulfstream G600. The company recruits for both PIC and SIC Part 135 pilot positions under a home-based pilot model, and offers longevity benefits such as a Rolex or Bell & Ross watch at five years and a personal jet card at ten years. Abby Carlton, Director of Recruitment at NICHOLAS AIR, said the partnership underscores the company's commitment to investing in the next generation of business aviation professionals.
