Woodward to Close Santa Clarita Facility by December 2027, Move Production to Spartanburg

Woodward, Inc. announced on September 21, 2026 that it will transition production out of its Santa Clarita, California facility and cease operations there no later than December 2027, a move expected to affect approximately 400 roles at the site through phased transitions.
Military fixed-wing and rotorcraft flight control actuation currently made in Santa Clarita will move to Woodward's new aerospace manufacturing campus in Spartanburg, South Carolina, which is in advanced construction and expected online in summer 2027. That facility will also produce Airbus A350 spoiler actuation systems along with other aerospace components. Separately, Woodward has agreed to sell a smaller group of legacy commercial rotorcraft, land systems, and business jet products made in Santa Clarita, together with the Santa Clarita campus itself, in a transaction expected to close in fiscal year 2027.
Shawn McLevige, President of Woodward's Aerospace segment, said the Santa Clarita team had contributed to the company for 17 years and that Woodward is committed to supporting affected employees through the transition. He described the decision as consistent with the company's strategy to drive growth, operational excellence, and innovation, adding that relocating production to Spartanburg would refine Woodward's manufacturing footprint and strengthen its supply chain to meet increasing demand for flight controls on current and next-generation commercial and military aircraft.
