Adnoc Distribution to Launch Aircraft Refueling at Egypt's Sphinx and Hurghada Airports

Adnoc Distribution is expanding its aircraft refueling operations in Egypt, with services set to begin at Sphinx Airport in October and at Hurghada Airport by year-end, using state-owned infrastructure at both sites.
Egypt already accounts for approximately 36% of Adnoc Distribution's aviation-fuel sales volumes group-wide — 129 million liters out of 357 million liters in the first half of 2026, up 3.9% year-on-year, trailing the group's overall 53.9% increase over the same period. Aviation fuel already generates more than 60% of Adnoc Distribution's Egypt-based EBITDA.
Adnoc Distribution CEO Bader Al Lamki had previously disclosed that the company was in discussions with Egypt's Oil Ministry about entering aircraft refueling as early as 2024, and by early 2025 was looking to expand beyond Cairo and Marsa Alam airports to additional locations including Alamein.
The aviation expansion accompanies a broader retail buildout: Adnoc Distribution plans a USD 1 billion investment to add approximately 400 service stations to its current 245 in Egypt, split across two phases of roughly 200 stations each, alongside automotive and engine lubricants. For the new stations, the company is considering building independently in Egypt for the first time, developing or upgrading sites with EGPC, or leasing, contrasting with its earlier approach of acquiring a 50% stake in TotalEnergies Marketing Egypt in 2023 to assemble its current footprint.
Adnoc Distribution began local motor-oil manufacturing in Egypt in late 2024 and laid out plans with TotalEnergies in May 2025 for marine motor-oil production capacity of approximately 90,000 tons per year.
