HALO-Flight Orders Another Bell 407GXi, Bringing Its IFR-Equipped Bell Fleet to Seven

Why It MattersRepeat orders from a nonprofit air medical operator show how emergency-medical fleets tend to consolidate around a single instrument-capable type, so crews, training and support stay uniform across around-the-clock operations.

What happened

Bell Textron Inc., a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, announced at the Air Medical Transport Conference (AMTC) 2026 in Fort Worth, Texas, on October 27, 2026, a purchase order from HALO-Flight for a Bell 407GXi. The aircraft will be the seventh IFR-equipped Bell 407GXi to join the HALO-Flight fleet.

HALO-Flight Orders Another Bell 407GXi, Bringing Its IFR-Equipped Bell Fleet to Seven

HALO-Flight is a nonprofit air medical provider that delivers air medical transport to communities across South Texas regardless of a patient's ability to pay. It serves 23 counties across approximately 24,000 square miles and operates around the clock, responding to emergency scenes and carrying out interfacility transports.

The Bell 407GXi features the Garmin G1000H NXi integrated flight deck, which provides advanced navigation and communication capabilities, instrument flight rules (IFR) capability, reduced pilot workload and enhanced situational awareness.

Lane Evans, managing director, North America, at Bell, said the company is proud to support HALO-Flight's mission with aircraft built around reliability, safety and performance. HALO-Flight CEO Travis Patterson said Bell has been a trusted friend, mentor and business partner for decades, and noted that the organization is entering its 40th year of service.

Industry impact & what to watch

A seventh IFR-equipped 407GXi at a single operator illustrates how air medical programs usually grow: by adding more of a type they already fly. Matching airframes and avionics across a fleet keeps pilot training, maintenance routines and spares aligned, which matters for a service that runs around the clock across 23 counties and some 24,000 square miles.

Instrument capability carries particular weight in that setting. A provider that responds to scenes and also performs interfacility transports at any hour is exposed to low-visibility conditions, and the Garmin G1000H NXi flight deck on this type is what brings IFR operation within reach for its crews.

The announcement was made at AMTC, a conference where air medical operators and manufacturers meet, which is a common venue for fleet news of this kind. The order itself is a purchase order for one aircraft, and the next milestone to follow is its delivery into the HALO-Flight fleet.
