IAI Aviation Group Expands Engine MRO Capacity with LEAP Entry and In-House Repair Growth

IAI Aviation Group, the engine, APU, landing gear, and component MRO arm of Israel Aerospace Industries, is expanding its maintenance capabilities to meet rising global demand for commercial turbofan support. Its most significant near-term development is entry into the CFM LEAP engine market, with Quick Turn Shop Visit capability already introduced for LEAP-1A and LEAP-1B engines and full overhaul capability targeted before the end of 2026, alongside international customer contracts already in place. This builds on an existing portfolio covering the V2500-A5, PW4000-94, CFM56-5B, and CFM56-7B.
To reduce reliance on external suppliers, the division has developed in-house repair processes including independent low-pressure turbine blade repair, ultrasonic inspection for the V2500, chemical cleaning, non-destructive testing, precision machining, grinding, and specialized component restoration, supported by six dedicated engine test cells also offered to third-party MRO providers.
The division's trading unit offers engine leasing during overhaul, module exchange programs, and engine and component trading, while component maintenance covers avionics, mechanical, and pneumatic systems across the Boeing 737NG, 737 MAX, Airbus A320, and Airbus A330. Landing gear overhaul is supported through advanced exchange arrangements, Access-to-Pool services, and Home-Base Stock Kit solutions, with APU maintenance handled within the same structure. Contracts are offered under cost-per-hour, fixed-price, and time-and-material models.

Yaacov Berkovitz, Executive Vice President and General Manager of IAI Aviation Group, described the offering as covering "the full lifecycle of the aircraft platform" through passenger-to-cargo conversions, aircraft maintenance, engine and component overhaul, and a supporting trade arm.
