Vertical MRO Kelowna 2026 draws record 700 attendees, 55 presentations and 64 exhibitors

Why It MattersGrowing turnout at a regional maintenance conference suggests demand for MRO networking, supplier access and technician recruitment is building outside the largest aerospace hubs, with students now part of the audience.

What happened

The Vertical MRO Conference took place in Kelowna, B.C., from Oct. 5 to 7, and set new records for 700 attendees, 55 presentations and 64 exhibitors. It also welcomed 56 aircraft maintenance engineer (AME) students.

The event took over the entire KF Centre for Excellence, which overlooks Kelowna International Airport (YLW). Organizers used six session spaces and a larger exhibit hall than the previous year.

Outside the venue, seven helicopters carrying various supplemental type certificates were on display, including a Bell 47, 212 and 412 and Airbus AS350s and H125s. Wildcat Helicopters' mobile command center and maintenance trailer were also on site.

Industry impact & what to watch

Attendance, presentation and exhibitor counts all rising at the same time is the usual sign of a regional trade event outgrowing its venue. For MRO suppliers, a gathering of this size concentrates buyers, shops and technical staff in one place over three days, which makes it a practical stop for business development outside the major aerospace hubs.

The presence of 56 AME students points at the labour side of maintenance. Technician supply is a constraint shared across the sector, and events that put students in the same rooms as employers and equipment suppliers are one of the ways shops build their hiring pipelines.

The static display of helicopters with supplemental type certificates fits the character of the Kelowna audience, where rotary-wing and modification work sit alongside conventional MRO. Whether the 2026 growth is repeated will show up in next year's venue use and exhibitor count.
