RCATIC and Airways International Commission Air Traffic Control Simulator in Rwanda
Why It MattersA locally hosted full-scope simulator signals growing in-region air traffic controller training capacity in East Africa, which may reduce reliance on overseas training providers over time.
The Rwanda Civil Aviation Training and Innovation Centre (RCATIC) and Airways International have commissioned an air traffic control simulator at the RCATIC facility. The system is based on Airways International's TotalControl solution.

It comprises a 360-degree Aerodrome Control simulator with three controller working positions, three Approach and Area Control simulators, and eight simulator pilot positions. The system reproduces real-world operational conditions, allowing trainees to develop and demonstrate competence in a controlled environment that closely reflects live operations.
