GMF Services First Falcon 8X Under Offset Program, Aiming for Independent Maintenance

GMF has begun maintenance work on the first Dassault Falcon 8X to be serviced at its facility. The aircraft is registered A-0801 and is one of six Falcon 8X aircraft slated for scheduled maintenance.

A-0801 will go through a series of maintenance events under the FalconCare program through 2029. The work is part of GMF's effort to build its capability to maintain the Falcon 8X, with the stated goal that GMF can carry out Falcon 8X maintenance independently in the future.

The work is described as part of efforts to strengthen the self-reliance of Indonesia's national defense industry, and as reflecting cooperation between the parties involved.

Bringing a manufacturer-backed support program into a local facility is a common way offset arrangements turn an aircraft purchase into domestic maintenance capability. Under a program like FalconCare, the first airframes typically serve as the learning vehicle: the local MRO performs scheduled events while building the tooling, procedures and trained staff it needs. For the Falcon 8X, that means GMF's role is staged, with independence as the end state rather than the starting point.

For the wider business-jet support market, each such arrangement moves a slice of heavy-check work away from the manufacturer's own service network and into a national provider. That changes where labour hours and parts flow are booked for operators of the type in that region, and it tests whether a local MRO can hold the manufacturer's quality standard once oversight is reduced.

The milestone the source itself sets is the program running through 2029, across the six aircraft slated for scheduled maintenance. Whether GMF reaches independent Falcon 8X maintenance is the outcome that period will settle.
