The Bombardier Learjet 40XR is a light business jet developed as an improved variant of the Learjet 40, first flying in 2004 and entering service shortly after with upgraded engines and refined systems compared with its predecessor.
The 40XR keeps the swept-wing configuration typical of Learjet designs and is powered by two Honeywell TFE731 turbofan engines, each producing roughly 3,500 pounds of thrust (15.6 kN). Cruise speed reaches close to 460 knots (852 km/h), and maximum takeoff weight exceeds 21,000 pounds (9,525 kg).
Corporate and charter operators favored the aircraft for its climb rate and cruise efficiency. Production ended in the early 2010s as Bombardier restructured its light jet lineup, though many examples remain active in business aviation fleets today.
