Seawind 3000 Crash-Lands on Interstate 80 Near Patrick, Nevada, Closing Westbound Lanes
Why It MattersAn off-airport landing of a small single-engine amphibian on a major interstate shows how general-aviation emergencies can spill onto public roads and disrupt surface traffic well beyond the airport environment.
A single-engine Seawind 3000 aircraft crash-landed on Interstate 80 near Patrick, east of Reno, Nevada, on Thursday morning. The aircraft came down at around 7:49 a.m., just seven minutes after taking off from Reno.

The crash shut down all westbound lanes of the interstate, a major highway connecting Reno to California, near USA Parkway, with no estimated reopening time. The Nevada Department of Transportation urged drivers to avoid the area and use southbound USA Parkway as an alternate route.
