LATAM Offers Penalty-Free Changes and Refunds for Galápagos Travel Disrupted by Adverse Weather on Oct. 31–Nov. 1
Why It MattersWeather waivers like this show how airlines manage disruption at remote island gateways with limited alternate airports, pushing rebooking and refund handling onto travel agents.
LATAM has issued a flexibility waiver for customers traveling from, to or through Galápagos (GPS) because of adverse weather conditions. Published on October 31, 2026, it covers original flight dates between October 31 and November 1, 2026.

Affected customers may choose one option without penalty. They can change the date, flight or routing, subject to availability in the original cabin and without fare differences, up to 15 days after the original flight date. They can also change origin or destination, subject to fare differences and ticket validity, except that a change to a nearby airport within 500 km of the original airport applies at no cost in the same cabin. Customers who do not wish to change their tickets may request a penalty-free refund of all unused coupons and associated ancillaries, also up to 15 days after the original flight date.
Travel agents are instructed to insert the code GPS31OCT26 in the Endorsement Box and to add the OSI remark "INVOL CHG DUE TO: GPS31OCT26" to the reservation. Customers with cancelled or rescheduled flights may also apply for the options in LATAM's protection policy and are subject to its involuntary change policy.
LATAM notes that date, flight or rerouting changes keep the same origin and destination, while a change of origin or destination means flying to or from a city different from the one printed on the original flight coupon. Ancillaries are changed or refunded depending on the action taken with the ticket. For changes subject to cabin availability, agents must book the original booking class; if it is unavailable, they must book the lowest available class in the same cabin and complete the involuntary reissue, without needing to contact the LATAM Sales Support Agent.
