Aviasur Expands Regional Aviation Network with New Facilities in Uruguay, Peru, and Florida

Why It MattersRegional aviation platforms increasingly compete on integrated lifecycle services across borders rather than on country count, tying sales, maintenance, storage and FBO support into a single network.

What happened

Chilean aviation services company Aviasur has opened a maintenance center in Uruguay, added Bell helicopters to its sales portfolio in Peru, and opened a second hangar in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Rodrigo Contreras Brain, General Manager of Aviasur, described the company's current phase as consolidation following an intensive 2025 expansion period, saying "Aviasur is no longer just a Chilean company with operations in other countries; we are building a regional network, with established infrastructure and local teams."

In Uruguay, Aviasur launched operations at the new maintenance center and expanded its hangar there from 600 to 1,500 square meters, aimed at serving operators across the Southern Cone. In Peru, the company broadened its offering by adding Bell helicopters to its sales portfolio. In Florida, the new Fort Lauderdale hangar complements an existing facility in Miami, increasing aircraft storage and support capacity.

Aviasur's business model integrates aircraft sales, operational support, FBO services, storage, maintenance, private flights, and aircraft upgrades, positioning the company as a single-point-of-contact provider across the aircraft lifecycle. Its regional partners include Textron Aviation, Bell Helicopters, Garmin, Pratt & Whitney, Williams, MT-Propeller, and Blackhawk. Chile remains the company's primary operational and technical hub, with its Santiago base featuring an FBO with exclusive underground parking and VIP lounges, plus a High-Density Terminal adjacent to the main terminal capable of handling flights with up to 180 passengers, serving sectors such as mining.

Industry impact & what to watch

This expansion reflects a broader pattern among regional aviation services providers: growth through integrated capability rather than through simple geographic spread. By combining sales, maintenance, storage, and FBO functions under one umbrella across Chile, Uruguay, Peru, and Florida, Aviasur is positioning itself to capture clients at multiple points of the aircraft ownership lifecycle instead of competing on a single service line in each market.

In this segment, facility footprint and manufacturer partnerships often function as the credibility markers that let a regional player compete with larger, single-country specialists. The Uruguay hangar expansion and the Bell helicopter addition in Peru both signal capacity built ahead of confirmed demand, a common feature of platforms betting on consolidation after a rapid buildout phase.

Contreras Brain's own framing, that growth is measured by client support capability rather than country count, suggests the next phase will be judged on utilization of the new Uruguay and Florida facilities and on whether the Peru helicopter line generates sales, rather than on further geographic additions.
