NOT A GARAGE and NIGO Launch Custom Gulfstream G500 Private Jet with NOT A HOTEL-Style Ownership Program
Why It MattersThe project signals private aviation extending the fractional-ownership concept beyond scheduling access into fully bespoke cabin design and lifestyle services bundled under one operator-managed program.
What happened
NOT A GARAGE has announced the NIGO JET, a custom Gulfstream G500 business aircraft designed in collaboration with NIGO, described as the first G500 configured for Japan-based operation. Rather than applying a livery to a stock aircraft, the project gives NIGO full control over the jet's visual identity, with exterior renderings — still listed as proposals — showing a matte finish with a deep olive green fuselage set against a copper-hued lower half and engine nacelles.

The cabin is divided into three separate living zones plus a galley and lavatory, with fourteen windows lining the cabin walls, described as among the largest fitted to any business aircraft. The G500 has a range of approximately 9,800 km, enabling nonstop flights from Japan to Los Angeles or Sydney, cruises at up to Mach 0.925 (approximately 980 km/h), and has a maximum operating ceiling of 51,000 ft.
The aircraft will be based at Narita International Airport and serve both domestic and international routes under a planned eight-year ownership term. The ownership structure follows a NOT A HOTEL-style model, with NOT A GARAGE and its operating partner handling daily flight operations, safety oversight, crew staffing, insurance, scheduled maintenance and crew training.
Owners within Tokyo's 23 wards receive private chauffeur service to Narita or Haneda airports, where security, immigration, customs and quarantine for overseas trips are processed inside a dedicated business jet facility before passengers board directly from the car. Onboard menus are overseen by NOT A HOTEL's chefs, including catering from specific restaurants, sushi and Japanese dishes prepared in flight, and selected champagne and wine. Owners manage bookings, pre-orders and passenger details through the NOT A HOTEL app and can gift flights to friends and family. Sales are open now through NOT A GARAGE's website, with flights scheduled to begin in December 2027.
Industry impact & what to watch
This arrangement belongs to a growing category where a lifestyle or hospitality brand extends its membership model into aviation, pairing a fully customized cabin with an operator that absorbs the regulatory and operational burden — crew, maintenance, insurance, safety oversight — on the owner's behalf. In fractional and shared-ownership aviation, the appeal rests on removing that operational complexity while preserving a degree of personalization that a straight charter or card program cannot offer.
The Narita basing and eight-year term suggest the model is built around a defined group of owners rather than an open marketplace, with ground-to-cabin service (chauffeur pickup, dedicated terminal processing, app-based booking) forming as much of the value proposition as the aircraft itself. Whether this template scales beyond a single bespoke G500 will depend on demand from additional owners and on how NOT A GARAGE structures access once the initial aircraft is sold.
The next concrete marker is the December 2027 start of flights, which will show whether the promised ground-to-cabin experience and ownership terms hold up once the aircraft actually enters service.
