Brisbane Airport Schedules November Runway Maintenance Closures, Operations to Continue on Available Runway
Why It MattersSingle-runway periods at a major Australian gateway narrow operational flexibility for airlines and business aviation, making schedule and slot planning more weather- and demand-sensitive during the works.
Brisbane Airport has confirmed a programme of runway maintenance closures throughout November 2026, affecting both runways at different times. The works include runway grooving, surveying and other maintenance intended to keep airfield operations safe and reliable, with daytime and overnight closure periods running from early November into December. The airport says aircraft will continue to use the runway that remains available, so this is not a complete shutdown.

The western runway, 01L/19R, was scheduled to close on November 4 from 02:00 to 04:30 UTC, with its connecting taxiways also affected, while operations continued on the eastern runway. The eastern runway's maintenance closure on November 3 was cancelled because of weather conditions, according to the airport's official notice.
Overnight work on the western runway is scheduled from November 9 to November 18, excluding Saturday, November 14. Maintenance then moves to the eastern runway, with overnight works from November 19 to November 28, excluding November 21. The airport has also published additional daytime maintenance windows extending into December. The programme is subject to weather conditions and operational requirements, so individual work periods may change.
The airport has stated that aircraft operations will continue on the available runway, and flight-specific disruption must be confirmed by the operating airline or airport authorities. Passengers, particularly those with connections, are advised to check their airline's flight information before departure.
